Non update, just checking in.
This morning the power went out! Too many folks using space
heaters which just take too much electric. Yes, it gets cold in Yuma! Maybe our
cold isn’t as cold as many other places but its cold to us. I was just about
ready to go out to the motorhome to run the generator and heat up my coffee
when the guys came by and in a few minutes had the power back on. (no, it
wasn’t because of us, it’s our whole row that the electric goes out).
Last weekend David was on a men’s campout. Camping or maybe
glamping, everything from cabins to tents to motorhomes and trailers with toys.
It’s at a place that has a lot of places for off roading and hiking and natural
hot pools. At first, I was reluctant for David to go. It’s far from any
hospital and no cell service but if David can’t do anything but sit in the
house what’s the quality of life in that? So off he went. And yes, he took the
motorhome, drove it by himself and had a great time. This year he wasn’t as
active, no bouncing off roading. Several of the guys kept a watch on him.
Checked on him mornings and evenings, asked his blood sugar and reminded him to
eat etc. They might have been more mothering than me!
I enjoyed my time off from nursing. I ate and slept when I
wanted. I made it to the semi annual huge swap meet which is always fun to
wander the aisles. It is a massive undertaking with lots of volunteers. It gets
set up in a large field. This year they had to scramble as rain was predicted
and they had to ask for tarps to cover everything. It must take a week or so to
set up and happily it did not rain on the two day event.
Eating is still a struggle for David. Between some of the
medication side effects and the way he feels, food isn’t so appealing and some
things he used to enjoy don’t interest him at all. He eats what he can and I
have got to stop cleaning his plate! I managed to walk everyday when he was off
on his campout. Somehow when he’s home, I don’t find the time, or make the time
is more accurate. And since he is anemic, his doctor prescribed iron pills but
he has stopped taking them. His last stomach upset he attributed to the iron
pill. Anybody want a couple bottles of iron pills?
Saturday, our park is having one of their “yard” sales.
These are kind of fun as folks haul out their junk for sale and then walk
around to find more treasures at your yard display. We are going to take
advantage of it by pulling the motorhome up to the front edge of our spot with
its “for sale” sign, then we’ll sit out on the porch to see if any interested
folks pass by. We’re thinking of putting out a sign, Tours $5, serious parties
free. Folks are always wanting to see inside. We’re even getting it washed and
waxed so she will look her best. Come on by…
